The application window for the 2015-2016 school year is now open for all HPS campuses and will close on March 15, 2015. You may submit your application online or
in person at your campus of choice.
If there are more applications than available seats for the 2015-2016 school year, a lottery will be held to determine who will be admitted. The date for this
lottery will be disclosed at a later time. For additional questions, please call your local campus of choice.

enrollment form(s) either to the front office by paper or through the student/parent portal no later than February 1, 2015. Space is limited for the upcoming
academic year, so seats are only guaranteed to students whose re-enrollment forms are returned by February 1, 2015.

On January 17th, both FTC Teams traveled to Del Rio, TX to compete in the FTC Division of US First Robotics.

|2015 National School Choice Week|
Harmony Science Academy- Laredo will be participating in National School Choice Week! This week long event from January 26th-30th will celebrate students' choice when it comes to their education. Each day, a special event will take place:
Monday, January 26th- Advisory/DEAR butcher paper poster contest
Teachers and students will use the Advisory/DEAR period to decorate a bulletin board/door/exterior through the week of January 2 wall by creating a poster in celebration of National School Choice Week
The judging will take place on Monday, January 26, as we wish to announce the winners on the following day during the student assembly. We will be assessing its creativity/originality, neatness/organization, positive message, must include the words "National School Choice Week,"
1st place: All students in the class will receive free dress on Thursday
2nd place: All students in the class will receive$1 credit towards free dress
3rd place: All students in the class will receive PRS
Tuesday, January 27th- Student Assembly at the gym
Students and teachers will be asked to report to the gym to make positive comments about our school and share fruitful experiences. We will have the first place LOTE poetry and dancing competitors perform 3 Sessions:
6th and 7th 8:15-9:15 LOTE Spanish Dancers
8th and 9th 9:30-10:30 LOTE Spanish Dancers
10th through 12th 2:00-3:00 LOTE Poetry
Wednesday, January 28th- School Tour
Visitors will be walked around the school, and we will go into different classrooms to showcase what our teachers are doing and what our students are learning.
Thursday January 29th-Science Extravaganza at the gym
This event will take place from 8:15am-2:50pm
Science teachers will take their classes to the gym, whereby a select group of high school students will be demonstrating and explaining their projects to these students to further entice them to explore STEM careers
Friday January 30th- Free Dress day with yellow clothing
Students who come in yellow will have free dress!

|2014 Senior Portraits!|
Please be reminded that all seniors need to schedule portrait appointments with Peter Pan Studios. The only available dates will be January 13th, 14th, 15th, and 16th.
Students must call Peter Pan Studios at 723-4642 to schedule the appointments. The hours available are 10am, 11am, 3pm, 4pm, and 5pm. Up to 4 students can be scheduled per hour. The deposit is $40 due the day of the sitting, which covers Cap & Gown and Formal. Attached is a price list about our sizes and packages. |2015-2016 Re-Enrollment Forms!|
Re-enrollment for the 2015-2016 school year will begin on Tuesday, January 6th. Re-enrollment can be done two ways this year by either using the Harmony Parent Portal App. Or by filling out the re-enrollment form and turning it into the front office. Re-enrollment forms will be sent home on Tuesday, January 6th in both English and Spanish. All applications either through the portal or by paper need to be turned in by January 31st or your child will need to go back into the lottery for next school year. We will have forms in the front lobby if you misplace yours. We look forward to seeing everyone return for next school year!

|National Blood Donor Month!|
Blood is traditionally in short supply during the winter months due to the holidays, travel schedules, inclement weather and illness. January, in particular, is a difficult month for blood centers to collect blood donations. A reduction in turnout can put our nation’s blood inventory at a critical low. January has been designated as National Blood Donor Month (NBDM) to encourage donors to give or pledge to give blood.

On November 6th, 2014, students from the PLTW Biomedical Science Program will be attending the 5th Annual Environmental Summit at TAMIU sponsored by Senator Judith Zaffirini.

The Political Science Pathways Program hosted a presentation by the Laredo Police Department on the 4th Amendment in order to inform and educate our students about their Constitutional Rights and how police officers enforce the laws.
|2014 6th Grade "Book It" Program!|
Harmony Science Academy-Laredo has been approved as a “Book It” program participant for 6th grade students. Thanks to the partnership with Pizza Hut and Accelerated Reader program, the 6th grade English department is proud to offer students that meet their monthly AR reading goals a gift certificate for a free personal pan pizza. This year, thanks to the Google Chromebook grant, students are allowed to test during their D.E.A.R (Drop Everything And Read) and after school until 4:30 p.m. We ask for your support in encouraging silent reading time at home and know that, together, this will be an amazing school year!
|2015 National Merit Scholarship Participants!|
Our two seniors, Ricardo Guajardo and Tristan Melendez, met the requirements to enter 2015 National Merit Scholarship Program. With a Selection Index score of 201 or above, these high performers have shown outstanding academic potential. Of some 1.5 million program entrants, each of these students is among the 50,000 highest-scoring participants who are being recognized in the fall semester of 2014-2015 Academic year. We are genuinely happy for this outstanding success of our students. Congratulations! You tigers rock!

Attention parents! Students will not be allowed to be picked up after 3:10. You will have to wait until classes end at 3:45. Only in an extreme emergency will the student be released to the parent during class session.
