HARMONY SCIENCE ACADEMY Laredo has arranged a field trip to TAMIU for a performance of George Washington portrayed by Dean Malissa. He is officially designated historical interpreter of our country’s first president. Mr. Malissa is also recognized internationally for his portrayal and possesses a unique combination of physical likeness, charisma, and dramatic ability. He brings a deep knowledge of history to his outstanding performance. The students will gain a greater understanding of George Washington’s significant contributions to our nation. The show will start at 9:00 am in the morning and it will take about an hour. Right after the performance, our students will visit TAMIU planetarium and watch a show. We are planning to be back by 11:15 am.

Harmony Science Academy has participated in mathcounts competition on Friday, February 5. Eight students represented our school in the competition at TAMIU. Ricardo Guajardo got 3rd place in the individual competition and made to the state. He will be representing our school in the StateWide Mathcounts competition on March 27 at Austin. He got also second place in the countdown section and brought a trophy to our school. We got 4th place overall as a team. We would like to congratulate our mathcounts team and the coaches. We need more participants for the next year. Go Math Tigers!!!

Dear Parents
We are going to have school wide Turkish Olympiad Contest on February 11th, 2010 at 6:00 pm in the cafeteria. There is no fee. All Parents are cordially invited. Turkish Club students are going to perform singing in Turkish Language and perform poetry. The prizes are as follows:
1st place: $50 Gift Card
2nd place: $40 Gift Card
3rd place : $30 Gift Card
4th place: $20 Gift Card

All participants will have free jeans day on Friday, February 12.

There will be free food and free refreshments for the parents and the students during the competition.

HSA 2009-2010 year book is on the way. Place your order as soon as possible. The deadline for year book order is on Monday, March 22. The order form is attached to the Monday mail. You can return the order form to the front office. The price for the year book is $40.

Re-enrollment process has started. Re-enrollment form will be mailed to your addresses. Due to limited space for the upcoming year, we ask each parent/guardian to fill out the attachment form completely and return it to the front office. This form is designed for currently enrolled students. The closing date for this application is February 26, 2010. Applications received unsigned, incomplete, or after the closing date may not be considered for next year. When we get the form, we will enroll your child automatically without any other application process. Please do not send the form with the child.

Harmony Science Academy PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) will be raising money for our school sign by the school fence. We are going to get a digital school sign and it costs approximately $10.000. PTO will start selling Laredo Bucks tickets for Harmony Family Night on Tuesday, January 19. if we can sell 3000 tickets, Laredo Bucks is going to donate $10.000 to our school for our outdoor digital school sign. Each ticket costs $12.00 and we expect each student to sell at least 8 tickets for our school sign. There are a lot of incentives to the fundraising for the school sign. The class who sells most tickets will get a free ice-skating night at Laredo Entertainment Center, will get a free pizza party in the school and free dress day . The class who sells second most tickets will get a free pizza party and free jeans day. The class who sells most third ticket will get a free pizza party. The student who sells most tickets will get a free signed Laredo Bucks Jersey by all the players, the student who sells second most tickets will get a free hockey stick. Our cheerleaders will be performing and there will be more colorful surprises for all the parents and students. The Game is February 27, Saturday.

2010-2011 school applications have been activated. If you are not one of our students, you can fill out the form online for the 2010-2011 education year. In order to do that, you need to click on the "Apply Online" button above and fill out the form. You are more than welcome to explore the difference with the Harmony. We will be accepting K-10 grade students this year.

HSA second school wide science fair was held on December 5th, Saturday. More than two hundred projects were presented during the science fair. About 40 judges from different fields saw our student’s projects and listened their presentation and they were really impressed by our young scientists. About 35 trophies & medals, certificates and gift cards were given to the students whose projects were selected top five in elementary, middle and high school categories. We would like to thank all teachers, parents and distinguished judges who helped us to make this wonderful event happened.
